SSW Group Residency 2025

The Group Residency at SSW is a highly subsidised program designed to bring together artists from a wide range of disciplines to develop their practices within welcoming workshops and studios. Over the course of a month, the program includes a series of inductions and introductions to facilities such as ceramics, metal fabrication, blacksmithing, and stonework. These activities are complemented by social opportunities, including sauna sessions, artist sharings, film nights, walks, and potluck meals.

The Group Residency combines access to facilities and workshops, supported by technical expertise, with peer exchange and learning opportunities. This distinctive program offers significant potential for the development of artistic practices and is particularly well-suited to artists who:

• wish to explore new ideas or directions in their work,
• are interested in engaging with materials and processes in the workshops,
• seek connections with other artists, or
• value open-ended and experimental approaches to making.

The residency is led by the selected artists’ individual practices, with no requirement to engage with all processes or facilities, and no prior experience is necessary to participate.
