A new festive event offering, the opportunity to meet some of the many ceramicists and potters working in Angus, talk to them about their practice and to buy unique works; from the smallest items to much more ambitious pieces.
Each using the same basic materials of clay, heat and natural and unnatural chemicals to make their work. These are traditions that have been used for hundreds of years and still we are seduced and fascinated by this production, as we see traditional skills used in many different inventive ways.
Opening Talk: 5 Clays & 5 Techniques
11am – 11.30am – book here
From 11am – 11.30am, the ceramicists and potters will host a conversation where five clays will be introduced: white porcelain, black porcelain, earthenware, stoneware and terracotta. Followed by five techniques: wheel throwing, hand building, decorative techniques of carving, combining coloured clays and glazing.
Tour of Ceramics collection in Hospitalfield House

Led by Douglas Stewart of Ceramics Conservation Scotland, this is an opportunity to learn about the conservation and repair of ceramics via our modest collection on display in the 19th century rooms of Hospitalfield House.
