The Event

Craft Week Scotland

This national event from Craft Scotland shines a spotlight on the wide range of craft businesses across the country, from Shetland to Dumfries & Galloway, and invites you to discover exceptional handmade pieces on your doorstep.

Discover Local Craft Talent

Craft Week Scotland aims to connect craft enthusiasts with makers and contemporary craft-focused retailers spread throughout Scotland.

Discover a growing list of craft retail destinations with our Google Map, making it easy for you to find a wide range of contemporary craft products nearby.  These independent retailers play a vital role in showcasing the talent of Scotland-based makers, offering everything from furniture and textiles to ceramics and jewellery.

Available this festive season the Google Map is a snapshot of contemporary craft retail activity across the country, selected by the Craft Scotland team.

Supporting Craft Retailers

Our campaign this year emphasises the importance of craft retail spaces in supporting Scotland’s makers practices. These local shops are often the heart of our communities, providing a welcoming environment for both locals and visitors. With thoughtful displays and selection of handcrafted objects, retailers help bring contemporary craft into the lives of many.

Scotland's makers draw inspiration from our stunning landscapes and cultural heritage, often reimagining traditional crafts for modern times while embracing new technologies.

Sustainable practice, material provenance and technical excellence are key themes to be found in Scottish craft today. From baskets using locally sourced willow by Anna Liebmann available at Coburg House in Edinburgh to Jennifer Smith’s Seed Pod Vase made with native clays available at Wild Gorse Pottery in Glasgow and Amy People’s exquisite jewellery available at Dundee Contemporary Arts retail experience. Showcasing all of this, the inaugural Craft Week Scotland looks to champion the country’s craft riches online and in person.

A Meaningful Shopping Experience

Irene Kernan, Director of Craft Scotland, highlights the significance of supporting local craft during the festive season:

“As shoppers this festive season search for more meaningful gifts, Scotland’s craft retailers are the perfect destination to discover beautiful objects handmade by skilled makers. As our recent sector survey has shown, makers play a key role in boosting local economies across Scotland and vital to this are the retailers who provide an outlet for this exceptional talent whether in jewellery, furniture making, textiles, ceramics or other homewares.

Craft retail destinations provide a vital platform for the nation’s makers and their ability to nurture and support contemporary craft make them must-visit destinations. I really recommend that you seek out these spaces and with their guidance discover all that Scottish craft has to offer. Shoppers buying Scottish craft this season will find themselves with unique pieces, ethically made, good for the planet and the local economy.”

By purchasing Scottish contemporary craft, shoppers not only find unique, ethically made items but also contribute positively to the local economy and environment.
