Month-long residency in August 2025 for an early career ceramicist.
Closing date: 13 Apr 2025
Bell House is a volunteer-led charity in South London that champions creative education. The pottery studio opened in September 2023 as a teaching space that offers regular courses for all levels.
Bell House is pleased to offer its first month-long residency in August 2025 for an early-career ceramicist. The peaceful studio is set in beautiful surroundings in Dulwich Village and is well-equipped, featuring a large workbench, Shimpo wheels, and electric kilns.
The residency provides 24/7 access to the studio, ample storage space, and use of all equipment, along with one 250L bisque firing and one 250L glaze firing (or an equivalent amount in the smaller kilns). Accommodation at Bell House is included, along with a weekly allowance of £150. Clay and glaze materials are not included.
Additionally, the selected ceramicist will have the opportunity to run a paid workshop for students at the end of the residency.
Applications are encouraged from individuals currently based outside of Greater London who have studied ceramics or completed an apprenticeship with a potter and would use this opportunity to work on a project or develop new work.
To apply, candidates should submit:
-
A cover letter describing their ceramic practice (techniques and processes) and outlining their goals for the Bell House Pottery residency (maximum 250 words)
-
A CV
-
A portfolio (six images of recent work)
-
Contact details for two referees
Applications should be sent by 13th April 2025 with the subject heading "Residency" to birgit@bellhouse.co.uk.
Interviews will take place in the last week of April.
