Ceramics Technician/Tutor

About the Role

The team is seeking a committed and creative individual to support the launch of a brand-new ceramics studio. This space will offer classes for various skill levels and membership programs. The successful candidate will receive ongoing training for professional development related to teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the smooth operation of the ceramics studio, working as part of a team to develop the program.

• Teaching two beginner classes per week and contributing to class development.

• Co-managing memberships to ensure effective workshop use and uphold standards.

• Overseeing kiln use, health and safety procedures, glazing, and other ceramic techniques.

• Managing inventories and placing orders as needed.

Desirable Experience

• Teaching mixed-ability classes.

• Experience in a ceramics studio, including kiln maintenance and workshop management.

• Strong knowledge of materials and suppliers.

• Confidence in budgeting and numeracy.

Required Skills & Attributes

• Excellent communication skills for both teaching and liaising with management.

• Patience, dedication, and a welcoming attitude to support student learning.

• Strong organisational skills to maintain studio standards.

• Proficiency in digital tools.

Role Details

• Pay: £15 per hour.

• Hours: Initially two days per week, with flexible working options.

• Requirement: A PVG for teaching commitments.
