Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, this course will guide you through essential and decorative stone-setting methods, including bezel setting, gallery strip designs, and tube setting. No prior experience? No problem! This course is suitable for beginners looking to create their very first setting, as well as those eager to perfect their bezel-setting technique and explore more advanced skills.

Bezel / Rubover Setting: Start with the fundamentals by crafting a sleek bezel setting using a thin silver strip and sheet metal backing to securely hold a flat-backed, round stone. You'll use this style to create a simple ring with a round stone of your choice. If you’ve already got some bezel-setting experience then we’ll show you how to level-up your bezels with the addition of tabs or prongs.

Decorative Bezel Techniques – Elevate your designs with intricate gallery strip settings, allowing you to easily work with irregularly shaped stones like sea glass or pottery. Learn how to create striking and unique settings with ease as you create a beautiful silver stone set pendant.

Tube Setting for Faceted Stones – Master the contemporary and stylish tube-setting technique, where a faceted stone is securely placed in a surface-mounted silver tube. You will aim to complete a silver band ring with a faceted stone.

Different ways to incorporate these settings into your jewellery work will be explored and how to use simple silver findings to transform them into your handcrafted collection of jewellery to wear with pride. As well as a lovely set of stone set jewellery, you will leave with the skills and confidence to build more stone setting techniques into your jewellery making if you want to carry on crafting at home or in one of our weekly classes.
