Founded by Niela Nell Kalra in 2008 in Hoswick, Nielanell has since expanded into a worldwide market. Hear some of the stories behind their contemporary designs, which have unexpected origins and interesting use of colour and texture.

Chat about the challenges and benefits of designing and making in a small rural Shetland community. Peeking behind the scenes, on a tour of their studio and workshop, examine various stages of the design and manufacturing processes.

One of the few villages in Shetland with a ‘nucleus’, in Hoswick you will find a café, several creative businesses and historical nooks and crannies to explore. Birdwatchers are constantly found sneaking round bushes searching for that elusive rare specimen. Close by you will find an interesting beach – great for beachcombing.
