Lucy Dunce is a ceramic maker based in rural East Lothian working across a broad clay spectrum from handbuilt and thrown vessels to sculpted forms. Objects may go through multiple firings in order to acheive the required layered depth. Optical distortion and spontaneous mark making are recurrent themes. A surface is arrived at slowly through an evolving application of materials in a constant quest to increase direct working time with an object and to delay the final commitment to kiln chemistry.
