Karolina Baines is a jewellery designer and maker based in Edinburgh. Her designs combine vibrant colours with a sense of movement to create sculptural jewellery with an elegant yet playful character. She uses enamels to imbue her work with rich colours as well as enriching them with strong tactile elements through the use of patterns and textures to further develop an emotional connection between jewellery and wearer. Karolina’s collections reflect a diverse array of inspirations, from Japanese textiles and folding techniques, to the character of Venice, to traditional weaving and basketry.Karolina’s jewellery and sculpted vessels have been featured in exhibitions throughout the UK, as well as in Europe and America. Among the awards that Karolina has won are the Graduate Craft Award from the Inches Carr Trust, the Goldsmiths’ Fair Graduate Bursary Award, and a Talent Spotted Commendation at New Designers 2015. She also created the winning design in the Benefactor’s Award Design Contest at the University of Edinburgh.
