Trauma Informed Practice

A two-day online course focused on working with audiences impacted by trauma.

Over two days the training will support in building confidence to develop, deliver, and resource projects both with a focus on trauma informed practice and working with audiences impacted by trauma.

Through interactive content, models and collaborative conversations, the training aims to provide participants with relevant and helpful tools to support specific organisational practices and approaches.

Day 1 will focus on personal practice. Training will explore what trauma is, how museums and galleries may be relevant to trauma and begin to look at tools and approaches to support individuals, colleagues, artists and external participants.

Day 2 will focus on building confidence to design, deliver, and support trauma informed projects within a setting or target audience. Through case studies and group discussion, the training will develop skills for assessing risk, considering audiences, and developing restorative team-work.

About the facilitator

Vicky Richardson is an ex-learning and visitor services professional, with over ten years’ experience of working frontline and managing projects in museums, galleries, and heritage settings. During her career she has worked on a number of strategic development initiatives within the cultural and social care sectors, before retraining as a trauma informed counsellor and facilitator.Vicky is passionate about offering a unique combination of insight into the challenges of the sector and their approach to accessible mental health knowledge and skills.
