Silversmithing Graduate Apprenticeship Scholarships

Closing date: 26 Feb 2025

South House Workshop Trust is offering up to TEN fully-funded graduate scholarships for 2025.

If you’re a promising silversmith looking to accelerate your career, this is your chance to work with master silversmiths Rod Kelly, Brett Payne, and Chris Perry. The scholarship includes tuition, travel, accommodation, and a subsistence bursary, and will take place in Shetland or Sheffield.

Each scholarship lasts one or two months, offering a comprehensive training program in silversmithing techniques like raising, chasing, engraving, soldering, and more. You’ll gain valuable insights into design, marketing, and selling, all while creating stunning silver pieces.

Criteria:

  • UK residents
  • Completed a related BA or postgraduate training
  • 3 years since graduation or 2 years out of postgraduate training
  • Minimum of 2 years in your own workshop
  • Passion for running your own business and exhibiting your work

Deadline for Applications:
26 February 2025

How to Apply:
Forward one A4 letter with your own proposal for a project, whether it is based on a one-month or two-month term. Indicate the areas you would like to cover and how this will help your business as a silversmith. Describe what you would like to make and which techniques you would like to use as part of the design.

All final pieces must be made in silver. A silver loan scheme is in place with Argex, the cost of silver must be covered by the applicant although it is supplied at a preferential rate.
