Continuing the Unfinished Conversation

Online event with invited guests Cat Dunn and Kathy-Ann Tan

Closing date: 18 Sep 2024

After the success and conclusion of the exhibition Crafted Selves: the Unfinished Conversation, Fife Contemporary invite you to join them as they bring invited guests Cat Dunn and Kathy-Ann Tan together to discuss the impact and legacy of this exhibition.

The subtitle The Unfinished Conversation has always been an important one for Dunn’s vision; that the exhibition should not be seen as a conclusion or solution to the ongoing challenge of raising the voice and visibility within the arts of those with Dual Identity, and other minority experiences, but that it is a contribution to a necessary and ongoing dialogue which continues to champion minority voices and experiences.

In this conversation Dunn and Tan will discuss their plans for taking the concept forward into a new project “T(h)reading Kinship” which will have an international reach and dimension connected with Tan’s gallery, Mental Health Arts Space, Berlin.

By looking at this project as widely as possible we will discuss the parities between our organisations’ aims, and how art, craft and design can be the instigator not just for representation and discussion but for wider institutional and sectoral change in Scotland and internationally.
