Being able to decorate book edges opens up a huge range of design possibilities for bindings. I can

During this one day workshop, we’ll learn:

• How to prepare a book edge for decoration
• How to press a book
• What inks/paints work on an edge
• Several methods for painting
• Tooling a book edge with foil
• Finishing a book edge

as well as lots of tips and tricks of the trade along the way.

The cost includes all professional tools and materials. Everyone will leave with several perfect bound books to take home, incorporating a range of edge decoration techniques as reference examples..

Suitable for beginners, but aimed at bookbindiners looking to elevate their projects.

We’ll have refreshments to keep us going throughout the day as well as a lunch break. The studio is a short train ride from Glasgow Central, and has free on street parking.
