COLD PARADISE is a contemporary art and design gallery in the Highlands of Scotland. The work exhibited reflects an intentional use of earthbound materials and/or subject matter, that demonstrates an earnest engagement with the natural world. Situated in the village of Shieldaig, nestled between Torridon and Applecross, the region is renowned for its untamed, awe-inspiring landscapes. The name COLD PARADISE is meant to evoke this place, a site of geological and natural importance, constantly battered by the weather yet remaining pristine, unmoved, and unspoiled. What began as a teenage joke about the weather has become a metaphor for the contrast between the modern world and what remains here, a paradise, albeit a cold one.
