I believe that many people hide their true feelings in order to become a part of modern society and thus my life is like a ‘Matryoshka’ stacking doll. When put inside each other the individual parts become one whole body. Lost PLA kiln cast glass sculpture, from a digital 3D printed model, coldworked and hand polished.

Sentimental Kidults (Happiness part)

‘Sentimental Kidults’ is a work composed of a total of four engraved glass sculptures. Each piece reflects my true feelings, which are usually hidden because of the societal fear of being judged by others, within glass. Blown glass overlay, cameo cut, sandblasted and engraved. 

Happiness Diary - 5 glass dolls

‘Happiness Diary' is a series of artwork, which ultimately focuses on the idea of 'seeking and valuing happiness'. I believe people often hide their true emotions and personalities. I argue, one of the most plausible reasons could be that none of us willingly expose their weakness or vulnerabilities. For example, I hide my anger when I feel angry or upset because of the societal fear of being judged by others as a social pariah behaviour. To express this, the artwork ‘Happiness Dairy’ is focused on venting my hidden 'anger' as a form of self-expression by cutting and engraving.

Nobody Knows What the Problem Really Is - JIMAN

I express both playfulness as well as other contrasting emotional states through my glass work, by using a kitschy aesthetic, which is inspired by Kidult toy culture. The glass dolls in my artwork ‘Nobody Knows What the Problem Really Is’ visualise my hidden emotions that are caused by social pressure and microaggression from everyday interactions in the UK as an Asian minority female. The images on each glass of the doll are hand-cut onto vinyl, sandblasted and then finally engraved.
