Learn the skills necessary to confidently tackle a cane restoration project, or seating frame design for the development of new work for furniture designer-makers.
Maker Isabelle Moore will demonstrate and then guide you through cane-weaving a practice frame during the day, and you will discuss pegging, couching and beading. You will have your completed sample frame to take home, and receive comprehensive handouts with sufficient cane to reweave the frame, for additional practice at a later date. If you have any small rattan restoration pieces you would like to bring along there may be time to discuss them with the group.
