16/11/09 website round-up
16 November 2009

I’ve been making lots of little changes to the website since I started – larger ones will be afoot in the future – and thought it would be a good idea to let you know what’s been going on. I’ll give you regular round ups of some of the changes I’ve made on the site: news and events items created, or interesting things craftscotland are doing online.

First off, as many of you know, we are now on both Twitter and Facebook. I had lots of fun last Tuesday making us a new twitter background using some of the beautiful craft we selected for The C Word advert, while on Facebook I created an event for our upcoming The C Word party in Glasgow.

Some of you may have noticed the new ‘Share’ buttons appearing underneath our news, blog and event pages. These buttons provide you with an easy way to share the information on our website – whether it’s by email, on Twitter, on Facebook, etc – or add it to your own bookmarks on Internet Explorer, Firefox and the like. If you want to use them, simply click on the Share button and select your preferred method of passing on this information.

In a small technical interlude, I'd like to tell you that we have pulled pages from the former 'resources' area of the website and moved them to the foot of the website. This means that each page in the website links to our privacy policy, terms and conditions, contact details, FAQ's and subscription page.

I’ve recently added new mailing lists to our site, giving makers the option to receive a new maker opportunities bulletin, and members of the press the ability to sign up for press releases and craftscotland news. These bulletins will be occasional, complementing our recently re-launched Inside craftscotland newsletter. If you haven’t already subscribed, you can do so here.

Lastly, lots of you have been in touch about Christmas craft fairs, exhibitions and shopping events that you are either participating in or running. To this end, I’ve created a form that allows you to easily submit your Christmas events to me. Next week, I’ll compile those you’ve sent in and create a ‘Crafty Christmas’ page to display them all.
